An experiment for pnpm repos. A content-addressed store, mounted through FUSE, makes a fresh checkout's node_modules usable in about a second. It passed its own kill test.
The goal: make install time, disk usage and dev-time file access fast for pnpm repos, without breaking them. If the new path fails, it falls back to a real pnpm install.
On a 5-package workspace with 638 resolved dependencies, the median install took 987 ms against 2124 ms for pnpm install --offline.
The kill rule was strict: a warm mount had to stay within 20 percent of plain disk for next dev or tsc. The first honest run failed at +30.5 percent. The cause was failed path lookups that the kernel never caches. One fix brought it to +10 percent.
A Rust store daemon and a Node CLI, tested by mutation. pnpm only, and not published.
